Today we heard tht Stormy is now being known as Norman....they started calling him Stroming Norman and it evolved into Norm. He has been snowshoeing with Scott and Snow Skiing with Rebecca. And so he is really loving his life with such good puppy owners.

Stormy has been enjoying his life of running with his new family on two areas in Minnesota....here are some pictures of him this fall in his vest. Everyone in the family wear orange vests when the hunters are out so that they are safe....he is quite handsome in orange don't you think? (grin) Thanks again Scott and family for sending updates on him and pictures and being such a wonderful family for him.

Stormy has been doing great. He loves his new family. Here are a few more pictures sent to me as he grows. He is a very special dog and I am so thankful to the McClure family to wanting to share their life with him. These are pictures at around 8 months old. He is growing up very nice. The German Shepherd is his friend.

Stormy went to a wonderful family in Rochester, Mn. He has a new family of two girls and two cats and an older BSD of 13 years. He lives on 10 acres and he loves the male cat and the girls and parents, Scott and Rebecca, Megan and Lily McClure. Ivy, The older Belgian Sheepdog and cats.

Stormy is a very sweet boy that was very special. He had great conformation and would have been in a show home except for retained testicles. He did have a special gift that we really didn't know until right before he left for his new home. He alerted us to my grandson having an Epilepsy Seizure. My grandson has had Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy since he has been born. He is 16 now and is attending a regular High School and does great with his grades.

I witnessed this and my daughter took some video after my grandson, Matt's seizures became less severe. At first, Stormy jumped up on Matt and started licking his forehead and about 60 seconds later Matt started having seizures.  Stormy sat down and started licking the palms of his hands and put his head on his lap. The seizure subsided a bit but then Stormy started doing licking his forehead at the hairline again and Matt had another bad seizure about 60 seconds later. Stormy would not leave his side and would lay with his feet on Matt's feet. He even laid across his lap with his front feet. My daughter gave Matt his medication through a feeding tube that Stormy had not bothered with. And the seizures started to be less severe as the medication worked.

Then Stormy would still not leave my grandson's side. I pulled on the leash to get him to come  with me...I even left the house as if I was going to leave. Still Stormy would not leave my grandson's side. I came back in there and tried to use a treat to get him to come, but Stormy was not leaving my grandson's side. Then he got up and started for the end of the feeding tube where the medication was put in and we had to tell him NO....he left it and went back to Matt and licked him as if to say " Are you OK?" Matt was starting to do better so finally we got him to come so we could leave.

I have been on sites since that informed me that this is very rare and 1 out of 4 dogs that go into a training program will actually detect a seizure before it happens. In the articles they said that a Seizure Response Dog will sometimes lick the forehead and the palms of the hands. I have had one other Belgian Sheepdog that detected seizures and that was my Jipsi who is at the Rainbow Bridge. She got up on a friend before she had a grand mal seizure while she was sleeping on the sofa at my house. She laid on her until the seizure was over. Jipsi was a little over a year old and she was Stormy's aunt.

I know that some of you are thinking why didn't I keep this puppy and give it to them. My daughter and her husband have more than their share of work for my grandson which is a 24/7 job. They both work full time in order to take care of him financially and therefore a dog at this time is not in their cards.

Here is some pictures and video of Matt and Stormy.
